Praised for her “spring-like expression”, and “sweet lyric coloratura" American soprano, Alyssa Dessoye, makes her mark as a rising young artist. This season, she joins The Metropolitan Opera in the workshop of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Mason Bates and Gene Sheer. She is also slated as a finalist for the 8th Annual Edward M. Murray International Competition of Voice at Opera Ithaca. Praised for her “spring-like expression”, and “sweet lyric coloratura" American soprano, Alyssa Dessoye, makes her mark as a rising artist. This season, she joins The Metropolitan Opera in the workshop of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Mason Bates and Gene Sheer. She is also slated as a finalist for the 8th Annual Edward M. Murray International Competition of Voice at Opera IthacaA recent alumna of the The Jan Miller Studio Artists with Pensacola Opera, recent highlights include Papagena in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Frasquita in Carmen as well as Josephine (cover) in HMS Pinafore. She also revisited the role of Adina in their young-artist feature production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, and performed in an all-new video production of Cinderella: A Classic Fairytale Opera, singing La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon as well as Clorinda in Rossini’s La Centerentola, a collaboration arranged by director, Joshua Borths.

 

Ms. Dessoye was seen as an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera for their Winter 2020 season, where she stepped in as a cover for Mimi in Puccini’s La boheÌ€me prior to shutdowns due to COVID-19. She performed the role of Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in a fully staged production with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She also spent the summer of 2018 making her house and role debut with the Aspen Music Festival as an opera fellowship recipient singing Giulietta in Les contes d’Hoffmann.

 

Other performances include Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Indiana University Opera Theater. She also reprised the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and sang Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. As an avid concert artist, Ms. Dessoye features as the soprano soloist in works such as Handel’s Messiah, Honegger’s King David, Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living, and Faure’s Requiem.

 

Ms. Dessoye holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree from the Florida State University as well as a Master’s Degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
